America did plenty of monkeying around this weekend, propelling Dawn of the Planet of the Apes to a box-office best $73 million in ticket sales.

Transformers: Age of Extinction fell to the second spot, but its $16.5 million take pushed the sci-fi hit past the $200 million mark overall in just three weeks.

Meliissa McCarthy's Tammy checked in at number-three at the box office on ticket sales of just less than $13 million.

The sequels 22 Jump Street and How to Train Your Dragon 2 round out the top five, with tallies of $6.7 million and $5.9 million, respectively.

The musical romance Begin Again, which features Adam Levine's big-screen bow, continues to disappoint, adding just $2.9 million in ticket sales -- bringing its total to $5 million overall.
