The NBA might have banned her estranged husband Donald Sterling for life for his recorded racist rant, but Los Angeles Clippers co-owner Shelly Sterling doesn't think the ban applies to her and she wants to keep the team.
She describes herself as a "die-hard" fan of the Clippers and doesn't believe that the NBA's sanctions against her husband apply to "me or my family."
According to a source with NBA, Shelly Sterling's desire to keep the team comes as a "wild card" for the league, because they never considered her keeping the team when they laid the groundwork to remove her husband as owner of the team just over a week ago.
Meanwhile, the Clippers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night 112-101 to tie the season a one game apiece. Game Three in the series is Friday.
