It's not just a fan petition -- Aaliyah's family is reportedly going to try to shut down that Lifetime channel bio-pic.
Her uncle and former manager Barry Hankerson says nobody from Lifetime or the production company reached out to anyone in Aaliyah's family. He insists that they're not opposed to a bio-pic, but they believe she was bigger than a Lifetime Saturday night special. Hankerson says the family has hired a lawyer and will pull out all the legal stops to make sure the movie never gets off the ground.
That petition making the Internet rounds suggested that Hankerson is the driving force behind the movie. That appears not to be the case.
As we've reported, former Disney star Zendaya Coleman has been cast to portray the late singer, who died in a plane crash in 2001.
