Two of The View’s co-hosts are leaving the ABC talk show.

Yesterday (Thursday) afternoon, Sherri Shepherd surprisingly announced her departure. An anonymous source revealed that ABC could not reach an agreement to keep Sherri around, though they had been in contract negotiations.

About an hour later, Jenny McCarthy tweeted to her followers, “If Sherri goes... I go too. #sisters.” However, it had been hinted earlier in the week that ABC was never interested in renewing McCarthy’s contract, which expires in July.

What are Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy’s next act? As for Sherri, she’s likely to turn her focus toward her bitter divorce and custody battle. Meanwhile, Jenny is looking forward to finally marrying Donnie Wahlberg

The network released an official statement, “The View will be moving in an exciting new direction next season. ABC has made decisions to evolve the show creatively. McCarthy and Shepherd's departures leave Whoopi Goldberg as the sole original cast member.”

For most of the season, The View has had male guest co-hosts. Insiders believe Barbara Walters will flip the script and turn The View into a co-ed gab-fest.

This (Friday) morning’s show was pre-taped, and all next week The View is on hiatus.
