Tracy Morgan is looking for more than just bargains at Wal-Mart -- he's looking for the retail giant to shell out millions for the accident which killed a fellow comic and nearly killed him.
Morgan was finally released from the hospital Saturday, more than a month after his limo was totaled by a Wal-Mart truck driven by Kevin Roper. On Thursday, his lawyers filed suit in New Jersey, charging Wal-Mart with being "careless and negligent in the ownership and operation of its motor vehicle, which caused Mr. Morgan to suffer severe personal injuries."
Wal-Mart issued a statement regarding the suit, saying, in part, "We are deeply sorry that one of our trucks was involved. As we've said, we're cooperating fully in the ongoing investigation. We know it will take some time to resolve all of the remaining issues as a result of the accident, but we're committed to doing the right thing for all involved."
Roper, who admitted speeding and working longer than the allowed maximum for truckers, faces charges of vehicular homicide and four counts of assault by auto. He has entered a not guilty plea.
