Julian Lennon says Paul McCartney was more of a father figure than his real dad John.
"Paul and I used to hang out a bit more than Dad and I did. We had a great friendship going and there seem to be far more pictures of me and Paul playing together at that age than there are pictures of me and my dad."
And this wasn't lost on John, who once said, "I think he likes Paul better than me. I have the funny feeling he wishes Paul was his dad," adding that being his son "must be hell."
McCartney wrote "Hey Jude," originally titled "Hey Jules," to comfort Julian when his father and mother Cynthia split up in 1968.
Julian acknowledged the tribute by titling his new album Jude.
