Manchester Mayor Hits Back At Eminem's Ariana Grande Concert Bombing Lyric

As the controversy surrounding Eminem's lyrics about Ariana Grande's Manchester concert bombing spreads, the mayor of the city has broken his silence on the matter.

In a statement to The New York Times, Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, spoke out about the lyric on the rap titan's surprise album, Music to Be Murdered By, saying, "This is unnecessarily hurtful and deeply disrespectful to the families and all those affected." As you know, Slim Shady referenced the terrorist attack on the track, "Unaccommodating," on his 11th studio album, spitting, "I’m contemplating yelling 'Bombs away' on the game like I’m outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting." The track even features an actual bombing sound for sock value.

Beyond Mayor Andy Burnham, many fans were quick to criticize Em over the reference on the LP, which features stars like Skylar Grey, Ed Sheeran, and the late Juice WRLD. As you know, the Manchester Arena bombing that took place at Grande's concert in 2017 shook the world with its 22 deaths and 100+ wounded individuals.
