Ella Mai is publicly speaking about her and Jayson Tatum's son for the first time.
During an interview KISS XTRA posted on Monday, December 15, the beloved R&B singer spoke about her 3 EP and mentioned that she released the project following her brief hiatus. That's when DJ Ace asked Ella Mai how her "hiatus" went, which led her to talk about becoming a mother. The British crooner admitted that she wasn't really a maternal person who dreamed of having kids. Now, Ella said she "couldn't imagine my life, now that I have him, without him."
"It's giving a little bit of both right now," the singer responded when asked if the child would have a career in music or sports. "We might have a little singing hooper on our hands."
Ella Mai and Jayson Tatum first sparked rumors about their child after the singer was spotted with a baby bump while celebrating the Boston Celtics' victory after the NBA Finals. The new parents did everything possible to keep Ella's pregnancy away from the spotlight. They didn't reveal the child until the singer brought their son to the 2024 Summer Olympics. Ella and her son were seen in the background as Tatum and the USA Men's Basketball Team celebrated after they won the gold medal.
"There are cameras everywhere, but if you're intentional with the way that you move, it's not that hard to not be seen," Ella told DJ Ace.
