The suspect in today's Downtown Fresno shooting that killed three has been caught and identified as Kori Ali Muhammad, 39, who is also the suspect in a homicide investigation of a Motel 6 security guard shot to death this past Thursday. Muhammad yelled "Allahu Akbar" while he was being arrested which means "God is Great" in Arabic.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer is calling this a 'random acts of violence'. In a press conference this morning, Dyer stated that the Police Shot Spotter registered 16 gun shots in four different locations in Downtown Fresno in less than one minute.
The shootings began on Van Ness and Mildreda where the Muhammad shot at a passenger in a PG&E vehicle. The driver of the vehicle drove to the nearest Police Station and explained what happened. That passenger died.
The suspect then headed West on Mildred then South on Fulton where he shot at another victim and killed him. The victim was a white male.
He then reloaded his revolver and headed south on Fulton towards Catholic Charities where he shot another white male. This victim was also killed.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer says there is no clear link to terrorism.
