In tweets that are now deleted, SZA told her fans her "voice is permanently injured". The singer, who recently won the 2018 Grammy for "Best New Artist", took to Instagram to say "If I don’t pause now I’ll be forced to pause permanently."
Her label, Top Dawg, issued a statement on their Instagram explaining the extent of the injuries. The post said, "Her vocal chords are swollen and she has to rest her voice to prevent any permanent damage."
The injuries to her vocal chords have caused the artist to cancel the Arizona and New Mexico dates of TDE Championship Tour, with no updates on the remaining dates of the tour.

The guilt of letting down people that u Love is unreal . I’m connected to y’all like family . My actual energy exchange partners. This reminds me of the time I left my mom at botanical gardens by accident 😢— SZA (@sza) May 24, 2018
