Burger King's attempt to take control of your Google Assistant has backfired.
The fast food chain launched a 15-second ad in which an actor playing a Burger King employee looks into the camera and asks, "Okay, Google: What is the Whopper burger?" The question was supposed to trigger the voice-activated speaker in the viewer's home to respond with a detailed description of the Whopper read from the burger's Wikipedia page.
However, it didn't quite work. While the prompt did trigger the speaker, it didn't actually respond. As it turns out, it was probably a good thing that it didn't work because pranksters started editing Wikipedia to change the description of the Whopper to include fake ingredients such as cyanide.
