Jay Z was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on Thursday night, with a special message from President Barack Obama. Oh how I miss you, Obama!
Even though he’s normally pretty quiet on social media, Hov tweeted up a storm, paying respect to the “people that inspired me.” He wrote, “Thank you to all the people who have inspired me. Rakim, KANE, KRS, Chuck [D], [Ice] Cube, Jaz[-O], Andre [3000], Nas, Big[gie Smalls], [Tu]pac, [J.] Cole, Kendrick [Lamar], Chance [The Rapper], Jay Electronica….” He then fired off another hundred-plus names of his favorite MCs, past and present, including everyone from Kool G. Rap to Future and Travis Scott.
A little later, Jay assured his followers he wasn’t drunk before promising to “[delete] this app in the morning” after getting frustrated with Twitter. But not before telling his three million followers, “Salute to anybody who made a song to feed their family or just vent.”
