Donald Glover surprised high schoolers at the Harold Washington Library Center in Chicago when he popped in for an impromptu performance.
Glover performed his hit “This Is America” under his musical alter-ego, Childish Gambino. The pop-up performance was a reward to students for attending Chance the Rapper’s Open Mike Chicago event. Chance has been teasing the possibility of a collaboration with Childish for a while now. But on Monday night, he got right to the point, telling the crowd the next guest needed no introduction before “This Is America” started to play over the PA system.
Open Mike is promoted by Chance’s SocialWorks non-profit. The free event series was created to encourage kids to get involved in the arts. Check out a video clip on Twitter.
