Thousands of Mac Miller fans in Pittsburgh turned out last night for a vigil at Blue Slide Park, which inspired the name of his debut album. A petition was launched to rename the park after him.
Fans decorated the park with candles, artwork and Steelers gear. They played his music and friends shared cherished memories.
People laid flowers at a memorial and wrote sympathy notes. One attendee said (quote) “I think there's a bigger conversation to be had about substance abuse and addiction. There's good that could come from this negative situation.” (WPXI-TV, Pittsburgh)
TMZ reports the family awaits the toxicology report, which could take another month to complete. It’s widely believed he died of an overdose.
