Naya Rivera's body has been recovered.
The 33-year-old formerย Gleeย star went missing five days ago while boating with her four-year-old sonย on California's Lake Piru. The boy was found unharmed in their rented boat, but Maya had disappeared.
Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub summarized Nayaโs final moments that featured saving the life of her 4-year-old son, Josey.The Sheriff said(quote) โWe know from speaking with her son, that he and Naya swam in the lake together. Her son described being helped into the boat by Naya. The idea perhaps being that the boat started drifting. It was unanchored. She mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself.โ
Divers had been searching since the disappearance. The lake is known to have numerous tree limbs and other obstacles underwater, and Rivera's is just one in a series of deaths there. (TMZ)
