In Case You Missed Brandy & Monica's Verzuz Battle, WATCH here!

Brandy and Monica reunited for an evening of hits on Monday night (August 31) when the pair appeared on the latest installment of "Verzuz."

The showdown, which nabbed a record-breaking1.2 million concurrent views, was the talk of the night as the beloved R&B icons went through some of their biggest hits, but it was important that the two spoke about the obvious. "I wanted to speak to you face to face," Monica, 39, told her contemporary of their past beef. "The more we’re talked about, the more it came to be difficult, unnecessarily. And I really really am a straight shooter and I really do admire what you’ve done musically and what you’ve had to endure personally."

Brandy, 41, showed love back to the superstar, saying, "I just need you to know that I have the utmost love and respect for you, no matter the times where it seemed like I didn't."

Aside from the necessary love-fest, there were were other takeaways from the three-hour broadcast. Democratic Vice Presidential candidateKamala Harrishelped kick off the in-person battle, which was held at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. Over in the comment section, the audience was jam-packed with names like Snoop Dogg(who is Brandy's cousin),Keke Palmer,Jermaine Dupri,Missy Elliott,JoJo,Aubrey O’Dayand evenMichelle Obama.

Yet, the face-off did feature some tense moments. At one point, Monica spoke about a phase in her life when she was "kickin' the doors," to which Brandy made a joke that she experienced that first-hand. Asked why she'd said that, the singer responded, "I was tryin' to make a joke. I was tryin' to work on my comedy. ... I'm sorry." Nonetheless, the broadcast was mostly pleasant with some impromptu live vocals, some unknown tid bits about their catalogue and a taste of new music from the two. Monica took advantage of the opportunity to promote her just-dropped song,"Trenches,"featuringLil Baby, while Brandy plugged and played some of hernew album,B7.

Naturally, the face-off ended with"The Boy Is Mine,"where the two offered a somewhat performance of the track. Brandy did most of the lifting, while Monica appeared to forget the lyrics or simply didn't want to perform with her counterpart. Relive the latest Verzuz battle below!
