Male birth control … the three words that every woman wants to hear. Well, there’s good news and bad news.
The good news is that there was a successful trial for a new kind of male birth control. Basically, scientists created a gel of sorts that men would rub on their shoulders every morning. The gel, called NES/T, is absorbed through the skin and works by slowing the man’s production of little swimmers. There’s also extra amounts of testosterone (hence the T) in the gel to balance out what isn’t being produced. What’s good is that the birth control seems to have worked – there was a 100% success rate with all couples who tested out the gel for a full year.
The bad news is that the male birth control isn’t coming to pharmacies anytime soon. There’s still lots of other regulations and FDA requirements to pass. But we’re getting closer! (Cosmo)
