Obviously when you are swimming in a public pool, there are germs and parasites that you need to know may exist within the water. When it comes to swimming related illnesses, the common culprit is Cryptosporidium or Crypto for short. It is spread through poop and even in little tiny pieces of it!
As we all know, babies can't control themselves when they need "to go" and that is how these mistakes happen in public pools.
Even regular levels of chlorine can't kill the bacteria and if you swallow the infected water, it can cause weeks of diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.
Parents you can really help by making sure your little ones use the bathroom right before swimming to help try and avoid these accidents! If a little one does poop in the pool, everyone should evacuate it immediately and not go back in until it has been fully treated.
Remember, even with a diaper on, the poo can escape! Be careful, Have fun!
