Dad Loses Both Legs Saving His Daughters From Snow Blower crash In N-Cali

At a ski resort in Northern California, a brave father who tried to protect his two young girls from being hit by a motorized snow blower lost both of his legs.

On the morning of December 15, Dave Miln and his wife Clare were driving Isla, 3, and Anna, 1, to their first day of ski instruction at Mammoth Mountain.

The San Diego, California resident threw his body over the small children to try to stop them from being pulled into the machine.

Dad managed to keep Anna under his body yet despite his effort, Isla sustaind serious injuries. Dave was locked in the machine for more than an hour before rescuers were able to remove him and take him to a hospital. Dave didn't lose consciousness at any point during the ordeal.

On the family's GoFundMe attempting to raise $100,000 to pay for his long term medical expenses, the family wrote:

Dave is now a double amputee; above the knee of the left and below the knee on the right, as well as breaking both femurs, pelvis, a number of his lower vertebrae, a sacral and finally 3 ribs. He underwent 10 different surgeries in three weeks and still has many more surgeries expected. Many will be happy to know Dave still maintains his dark sense of humor and razor-sharp wit!
Isla has suffered breaks in both of her legs and her pelvis, as well as other wounds, and had 3 surgeries and may require more. She is expected to make a full physical recovery (though a long process for an active toddler).

The family had to uproot their lives in San Diego to return home to Sydney, Australia to continue The Australian Defence Force veterans medical treatment.

Although dad lost two legs, his bravery saved the lives of both his daughters. Kudos, Dad!
